Hahaha, that is too awesome! I might do the same thing some day (it wouldn’t be too hard for me either, because I have family all over the globe).

    Whoa. Dude.

Are you still in Paris? (I seem to recall reading you took off for Paris…)

  4. By Mike Gogulski on 22 November 2008

Heya, Bob! No, I’m back home, in Slovakia. Paris was a wonderful 4-week experience, but at the end I still live here.

Cork: If you’d like me to print triplicate copies of the form for you and have them delivered to you anywhere in the world, just say the word ;)

Good on you. I hope this goes over smoothly for you.

The wording is strange; “I desire and intend to”. That’s like saying “I intend to quit.” rather than “I quit!”. When will the renunciation commence? It’s like telegraphing a punch. You have informed them you leaving, but you never actually left. They still have authority over you.

@That: Read on, I’ve actually gone ahead with it, and am now a stateless person.

Can I renounce my citizenship and at a later date apply for U.S.status?

  10. By Mike Gogulski on 31 August 2009

You can apply for various sorts of visas to visit the US, or conceivably for a green card. That’s all I know as far as steps short of “US status”

    Please provide proof of claim.
