Adam Mueller, Pete Eyre and Jason Talley, Motorhome Diaries crew, have been arrested and jailed in Mississippi.

From Free Keene:

Adam Mueller – Disorderly Conduct and Disobeying an Officer
Pete Eyre – Possession of a Beer in a Dry County
Jason Talley – Disorderly Conduct, Disobeying, and Resisting Arrest

From elsewhere:

Pete Eyre – also charged with a Federal firearms offense

From Dan Patrick in the comments there:

May 14, 2009 @ 5:19 pm

Just spoke with “Stacy” at the jail.

Bail has been set as follows:

$1000 each– Pete possession of beer in dry county, Adam disorderly conduct, disobeying

$1500 – Jason Possession firearm, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest

Additionally they will have to pay a towing fee to get MARV out of lockup. She did not have information on where MARV was towed, but said that you’d have to call general dispatch to get that info.

No, not Allison Zayne. Allison Gibbs! It makes a difference. allisonzayne is her twitter if you are sending her the MTCN directly.

Also, I have now seen it every way: Pete, Jason, or Adam on the firearms charge. Nuts.

Allison sez it is Adam, so that’s what I’m thinking, since she’s there.

If I were smart I’d whip up a PHP script to load into wordpress and integrate @planetaryjim, #mhd, @allisonzane and #freemhd and feed it here…

    Pity I’m not that smart.

There is no law that prohibits the possession of a firearm in MS as far as I can tell. It appears that they also don’t have any prohibitions on the possession of a firearm in a home or a vehicle. In the US Code, § 926A. Interstate transportation of firearms states “Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.”
MS also has concealed carry reciprocity with NH. In MS, you don’t need a permit to carry concealed in your home or your vehicle. The only way they might legally charge him with a firearms charge is if he was carrying concealed outside the vehicle without a license or permit or if he was a convicted felon or a minor or if he had a NFA item that was not locked up and is prohibited in MS or an unregistered NFA item. I doubt that any of those would apply so I suspect that the police made up that charge. I’ve been ticketed for violating a nonexistent statute, so I think it’s not as uncommon as most might think for police to make up laws as they go, and charge people with violating them.

Via Twitter: @JDTalley: The #MHD crew has been released from Jones County jail. I was pepper sprayed and choked for refusing to give ID.
