Semi-off-topic: How long did it take you to learn Slovakian?
By Mike Gogulski on 7 August 2008
I’m still learning… but I’ve been here 4 years, and translating the language for a year and a half.

This looks like ’slivovitz’! Where can I get some BARACK! (apricot flavored white liquor) in the US?
By Mike Gogulski on 26 October 2008
Chris5: Slivovica is made from plums. The Slovak word for the beverage in question is marhuľovica. In the US? No idea. Ask your friendly neighborhood liquor merchant, or settle on peach schnapps

In Hungary it’s apricot liqueur, or barack likör. I’ve got an unopened bottle that’ll be shared tonight after the election returns are in. Also have two shots in an older bottle of öszi barack likör (fall apricot liqueur). Don’t know if you can buy these in the U.S. except via the Internet. Most sites seem to be out of stock. Hmmm, wonder why?
