Justice is my favorite Metallica album, hands-down. There are some great songs in the rest of their discography, as an album, AJFA is the best.

Their latest album is very good, not AJFA good, but it’s far better than the last two or three discs they’ve put out.

A favourite of mine, for the same reasons, is “Don’t Tread on Me” from the black album. And that album has a rattle snake on the cover. Metallica are all right.

That aside…

I am reminded of an incident in which my parents decided they really hated my Slayer albums, at around the age of 17 or so. I recall writing a paper dissecting the meanings contained within “Behind the Crooked Cross” and submitting it to them for discussion. No discussion followed, but I kept my tapes. I call that WIN.

I love this album so much. It’s so badly produced that it was totally unique.

I remember reading in late 88 or early 89 an article about Monica Seles and they used some of the lyrics for “Eye of the Beholder” in the piece.

That’s when I knew And Justice for All had arrived as a social/political phenomenon.
